Obituary of Katherine Mahoney


Katherine Courneyea Of Extendicare Nursing Home, Kingston, passed away on June 18, 2002, after a lengthy illness. She was 76. Katherine was born at Hotel Dieu Hospital in Kingston, the daughter of the late Rose and Cornelius Mahoney. She lived in the Kingston area all her life. Katherine worked at RMC, Steacy’s Department Store, Kresges Department Store and Hotel Dieu Hospital for the Sisters of Hotel Dieu. She attended St. Vincent’s and Notre Dame Schools. Katherine attended St. Mary’s Cathedral and sang in the choir. Home and family were her main focus. She loved children. She was a born caregiver and no one ever had to ask, she was automatically there when someone was in need. Katherine is survived by her husband Patrick Courneyea, daughter Judy Gauthier, son-in-law Ric Gauthier, grandsons Jean-Paul and Andy Gauthier, sister Irene (Susie) Mahoney, sister-in-law Norma Mahoney and cousin Gladys (Tunie) Fretts, many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her sisters Frances, Muriel, Mamie, Lois and brother Neil. The funeral was held on June 20, 2002. Monsignor Joe Lynch officiated. Pallbearers were grandsons Jeal-Paul Gauthier and Andy Gauthier and cousins Gary Cox and Bill Cox. Interment St. Mary’s Cemetery.050638 7/13/2002- ID585651 - Kingston Whig Standard
