Katherine M. Kay (Donlon) Manley of Randolph, formerly of Holbrook, where she had lived for 40 years, passed away at 100 years of age Dec. 13, 2012. Daughter of the late Martin and Catherine (Noone) Donlon, born in and raised in Boston, she worked as a hair dresser for 20 years, at a bank, at Codmans Medical Supply and waitressed at Stanneys Restaurant in Holbrook. In her 100 years, Katherine saw many memorable events. As a young child she saw John Philip Sousa marching in a parade, lived through the Great Depression and witnessed several major conflicts from World War II to Afghanistan. She loved to travel, visiting with family members from the East Coast to the West Coast. She also traveled to Hawaii, Canada and Europe. She was a Girl Scout leader, a member of the Josepheens, the Garden Club, the Womens Club of Brockton and for over 25 years. She was a student and volunteer at Massasoit Community College. Katherine enjoyed summering at her cottage on White Horse Beach in Manomet surrounded by her family and friends. She was also an avid reader and an accomplished writer. She was the wife of the late Joseph J. Manley. She was the loving mother of John L. Jones and his wife Carol of East Bridgewater, Clare Demarest and her husband Robert Mamis of Hull and the late Barbara Boucher and Stephen A. Manley; dear mother-in-law of Diane Simms and the late Donald Boucher. Also survived by 15 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and 11 great great-grandchildren. A funeral Mass was held Dec. 17, at 9 a.m. in St. Joseph Church, Holbrook. Visiting hours were Sunday 4-8 p.m. Burial in Union Cemetery, Holbrook.
