DELMAR Katherine Shanahan Devlin (Kate), of Naples, Fla. and Delmar, N.Y., wife of the late Robert V. Devlin, passed away Monday, April 10, 2006. Born in Albany, N.Y., daughter of the late William S. Shanahan and the late Mary Connell Shanahan of Watervliet. Kate lived in Delmar, residing in Naples since 2004 and wintering there for the past 15 years. A former graduate of Catholic High and the College of St. Rose, Kate earned her master's degree in education from the New York State College for Teachers. She was a school teacher for the City of Troy and a volunteer at St. Catherine of Siena and St. Gregory's School. Katherine was an avid bridge and backgammon player who found great pleasure in socializing with her family and friends with whom she shared her great sense of humor. Kate is survived by her two sons, Michael and his wife Mary and Matthew and his wife Anne; a twin sister, Mrs. Mary Shanahan Stallmer, with whom she shared the title of Watervliet's Most Beautiful Babies in 1928; and four grandsons, Timothy, Sean, Casey and Joseph. She is also survived by two nieces and many wonderful friends. A memorial Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, April 12 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 40 Hopewell St., Albany. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the Community Hospice at St. Peter's Hospital, 315 Manning Blvd., Albany, NY 12208.
