Karon Louise Griffith Simmons, 53, of Wellington passed away Friday June 13, 2014, at Jacksonville Hospital after a brief illness. She was preceded in death by her father, Ronald Griffith, of Anniston; grandparents, Louise and JD Humphries, of Anniston; Opal and JB Montgomery, of Blackstock, S.C. Survived by her special friend Ernie Surrett, of Wellington; her children, Jennifer Simmons Spear, of Troy, Timothy Simmons, of Gadsden; mother, Ruth Whitaker, of Ozark; sister, Kim Durden (Steve), of Ozark; grandchildren, Kaleb Spear, Jayden Spear and Kaden Simmons of Troy; nephews, Lee Durden, Nic Durden and niece, Emily Durden all of Ozark, Al. Karon was a loving grandmother, mother, daughter, sister and friend, a lover of her four legged children and avid crafter. She was born in Chester, S.C. but a longtime resident of the Anniston area and employed in the medical field for many years. Visitation will be held at Gray Brown on Tuesday June 17, 2014, at 11:30 a.m. for family and 12:30 p.m. for friends. Service will be at 2 p.m. today at Anniston Memorial Gardens.
