KINNELON — Services will be held for Karl H. Meyer, 87, of this community, who died on Sunday, December 19, 2010. Born in Matamoras, Pa., Mr. Meyer was a longtime resident of Kinnelon. He was an aeronautical engineer for Sperry Gyroscope, Long Island, N.Y., and Air Radio Control, Boonton, and the inventor of a number of aeronautical instruments, including the Zero Reader. Also, he was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, receiving two Purple Hearts. He was a pilot, a member of the Kinnelon Board of Education, president of the North Jersey Highlands Historical Society, and chair of the Committee to Save Pyramid Mountain. Arrangements are by the Richards Funeral Home, Riverdale. Mr. Meyer is survived by his wife, the former Lucy Milano; his daughters, Julie, Nanette, and Jeanette; and two grandsons. He was predeceased by his parents, Florence and Henry; and six siblings.
