Karin Hanson Peterson MASHPEE Karin Hanson Peterson, 66 of Mashpee died Wednesday, January 7, 2009 after battling a long illness. She was predeceased by her parents Charlotte Elizabeth and Gustaf Ludvig Hanson, both of Swedish origin, as well as her brother Gus Carl Hanson. Born in Weymouth, July 3, 1942 as Karin Alice Marie Hanson, she attended Weymouth High School, graduating in 1960, as well as UMass. Karin raised her three children with her former husband, George Peterson, in Plymouth, MA before retiring to Cape Cod. She spent many summers in Cotuit where she enjoyed gardening, boating, reading, playing the piano and spending time with her friends in the Cotuit Womens Fellowship and Garden Club. Known to all the neighborhood kids as Nana Karin, she was also a devoted grandmother who enjoyed countless hours with her grandchildren. She is survived by George Peterson, Wentworth, NH; Three children: Jennifer Meade (& husband John) of Pembroke, Eric Peterson (& wife Dawn) of Mashpee, Gretchen Wollerscheid (& husband Leonard) of Swampscott; Eight grandsons: Alexander Meade (& wife Allison), Eric, Kurt, Ryan and Nathan Peterson, and Benjamin, Colby and Emery Wollerscheid; one great grand-daughter, Charlotte Abigail Meade; her sister-in-law Marcy Carsey, niece Becky Carsey and nephew Pete Carsey.
