Karen Elise Harris-Rhodes "Cookie" East Chicago Karen Elise Harris-Rhodes "Cookie", age 48 of East Chicago, passed away at home November 27, 2004 with her mother and daughter at her side. She leaves to cherish her loving memories, devoted mother Joan Harris of East Chicago; two loving daughters, Natalie Alice Rhodes of East Chicago and Kellie Rhodes of Rancho Cucamonga, CA; one brother, Marcus (Marian) Mack of Rancho Cucamonga, CA; two sisters, Jacqueline (Dennis) Mathews and Stephanie (Robert) Williams, all of East Chicago; two uncles, Eli (Mildred) Harris and Howard (Josie) Bridgeman; four aunts, Cora Brandford of East Chicago, Louise Gibbs of Gary, Ocie Flynn and Catherine Bridgeman, both of East Chicago; six nephews, one great-nephew and one great-niece; special cousin, Emery Brandford; special friends, Kim Williams-Jones, Joyce Stallings-Hayden, Beverly Bell, Marshanell Taylor and a host of relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her father, George Harris; grandparents, Hozy and Virginia Bridgeman, Eli and Alice Harris; uncles, Earl Bridgeman and Hozy Bridgeman, Jr.; aunts, Queen Esther Sanders, Annie Lee Harris, Rachel Thomas, Anniece Williams and Diane Bridgeman. Home going services are 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 4, 2004 at Zion M.B. Church, 3939 Drummond St., East Chicago with the Rev. Dr. J.C. Wade, Jr. officiating. Final resting place Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, Hobart. Visitation will be Friday, December 3, 2004 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at Divinity Funeral Home, 3820 Pulaski St., East Chicago. Family hour from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Zion M.B. Church. Karen was a member of Alpha Kappa Sorority and a 1974 graduate of East Chicago Washington High School. She received her B.A. from Southern Illinois University. Karen was a member of Zion Missionary Baptist Church. May God grant her eternal rest.
