Karen Alverta Walker (Peterson) August 17, 1950 ~ January 11, 2015 (age 64) Karen Alverta Walker, loving and devoted wife of Willis Randall Walker, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 11, 2015 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born 1950 in Saint John she was the daughter of the late Charles Edward and Doris Alverta (Bishop) Peterson. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her brother Dennis Peterson (Susan) and sister Heather Hodd (James). Karen has touched many lives with her thoughtfulness, strength and faith; even in the midst of struggle she made every effort to ensure that all who knew her were looked after and had what was needed to benefit their lives. Karen, a 37 year member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, was passionate in her faith and in her life. She was annually devoted, to decorating the Oncology Department at the Saint John Regional Hospital for the Christmas season in the hopes that her small act could brighten the day of those who may be in need. She will be forever remembered for her kind heart, her kind words and her capacity for performing tremendous acts of kindness over and over. These, along with numerous others, are the traits for which Karen will be remembered. Karen will be deeply missed by her husband Willis, her son Anthony Walker (Carolyn) of Hampton; daughter Ricki Lynn Rodgerson (Donald Matthews) of Hampton; cherished grandchildren Narissa, Devin, Kayden and Lexy Rodgerson, Xavier and Calder Walker; brother Terry Peterson (Laurie) of Saint John; sisters Nona MacLaren (Lorne) of St. Peter’s Bay, PEI, Starr Cashwell (Roger) of Saint John, Tanya Peterson of Saint John and Kelly McIntyre (Bruce) of Hampton; Son-in-Law Jamie Rodgerson and many nieces and nephews. Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424) with visitations on Friday, January 16, 2015, 2:00PM – 4:00PM and 7:00PM – 9:00PM. The funeral service will be held from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 177 Manchester Avenue, Saint John on January 17, 2015 at 10:00am. Interment will take place at a later date.
