Kathleen Venita "Taffy" Henderson was born August 8, 1948. A lifetime Mt. Vernon resident, she departed this life on January 18, 2003. She was a dedicated educator in the Mt. Vernon, Yonkers, Hempstead and New York City Public School Systems. Kathleen was a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority and the Vernon Heights Homeowners Association. An avid traveler, she was a community activist, children's advocate and an Atlantic City enthusiast. Although she was a friend to the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon as well as First Baptist Church in Bronxville, Kathleen was a faithful member of Greater Centennial AME Zion Church at 312 So. Eighth Avenue in Mt. Vernon. Left to cherish her memory: her mother, Helen Wheaton Henderson of Mt. Vernon; daughter, Kaya Henderson of Washington D.C.; nieces: Nicole, Ronae, Saquisha and Koleasha Henderson and a host of other relatives and friends. Her brothers, Ronald and Jonathan Bernard Henderson predeceased her. Viewing Thursday, January 23 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at CAMELOT FUNERAL HOME, INC.
