Karen Marie Smith of New Smyrna Beach, passed away Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at the Hospice Care Center in Port Orange with her family by her side. Karen was born in Salamanca, N.Y. and moved to New Smyrna Beach as a young child. She was co-owner of Sunbelt Landowners in New Smyrna Beach, along with her daughter. Karen loved life to the fullest and enjoyed cooking, baking, shopping and spending time with her family and friends. Karen is survived by her daughter, Syna Prasse (Keith); son, Brandon Smith (Julie), Edgewater; one brother, Thomas Shinners (Donna), Edgewater; sister, Trudy Hobgood (George), Daytona Beach; two grandchildren, Blayne and Caid Prasse; nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog and constant companion, Jessie. Karen will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She was a kind, gentle, giving soul. May she be at peace with the Lord. In honor of Karen's memory the family requests donations be made to Hospice Care Center, Port Orange,FL. A Memorial Service will be held for family and friends on Saturday, March 31st at 2 p.m. at United Church of Christ, 203 Washington Street, New Smyrna Beach.
