Memorial service 4 p.m., today at The Unitarian Universalist Church, College Station, TX. Judy was born in Nolensville, TN to Jennie Lee and Robert N. Herbert. She began her life of leadership and community service as Vice President of the Student Body, Central High School in Nashville, TN from 1941 to 1942. She was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Service Sorority and was awarded the D.A.R medal and Civitan medal. While working at Vanderbilt, she met and married Clint Phillips on November 12, 1953 in Nashville. Judy attended the University of Tennessee in Knoxville before moving to New Orleans, where they started their family and then moved to College Station in 1967. Judy was active with many volunteer organizations including the League of Women Voters, Hospice, The Arts Council, The Symphony Society and Friends of the Library. Judy received numerous awards and accolades. Survivors include her loving husband of 55 years, Clint; children, Lauralee and Edward; her sister, Wilma Herbert; grandchildren, Travis and Sydney. She also had many relatives in Tennessee and many dear friends across the country. In lieu of flowers, Judy asked that friends consider a donation to The Unitarian Universalist Church of the Brazos Valley, 305 Wellborn Road, College Station, TX 77840; or Brazos Valley African American Museum, 500 E Pruitt Street, Bryan, TX 77803; or Hospice Brazos Valley Bryan, 502 West 26th Street, Bryan, TX 77803
