Hyatt, Julia Catherine EAST GREENBUSH Julia (Judy) Catherine Shields Hyatt, 100, died Friday, November 9, 2007 at Evergreen Commons after a brief illness. Born in Troy, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Elizabeth Creighton Shields and the widow of Richard Hyatt. Born in Troy, she attended Troy High School, was a member of Pi Kappa Phi Sorority and graduated from Catholic Central High School and Mildred Elley Business School. She was employed as a telegrapher for the Western Union Office in Troy for many years. It was there she met her future husband, Richard Hyatt. They were married in 1945 in Presidio, San Francisco where Richard was stationed with the U.S. Army. They lived in San Francisco for several years, where Julia operated a family-owned business. They returned to Troy in the early 1960's. She was a communicant of St. Anthony of Padua Shrine Church and was a longtime member of the 3rd Order of St. Francis. Survivors include several nieces and nephews, Leaond Chabot of Fla., William Chabot of Ballston Lake, Joyce Chabot of Scotia, Kathleen Newell of Ballston Lake, Gordon Gooley of Stillwater, Joan Gooley Allen of Stillwater and Robert Gooley of Latham. She was the sister of the late Joseph Shields and Ann Shields Blanchard. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 9:00 a.m. from the John H. Clinton Funeral Home, Washington Park and Third Street, Troy and at 9:30 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Shrine Church in Troy. Calling hours will be held on Monday 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Troy. Judy will be remembered as a special lady, her cheerful "Irish Leprechaun" smile and her friendliness and positive attitude. She was 100 percent Irish and very proud of it.
