Judy (Freeze) Williams, age 59, passed away Friday, Nov. 27, 2009, after a brief illness.She was preceded in death by her father, Carl H. Yeager, and is survived by her husband and best friend, Presley Williams, Sheffield. She is also survived by her mother, Eloise Yeager, Florence; sisters, Jackie McLaughlin (Joe), Deerfield Beach, Fla., Beth Corum (Rick), Florence, Suzanne Yeager, Charlotte, N.C.; brothers, Mike Yeager (Teresa), Killen, Tim Yeager (Alice), Killen, Vic Yeager (Camille), Florence; nieces, Nikki Dee James (Justin), Katie Yeager; nephews, Chad Yeager (Halley), Aaron Yeager; stepson, Eric Williams and his wife, Hope; and a precious stepgranddaughter, Denby.Judy also leaves a host of caring friends, including the special ladies in her golfing group and many supportive co-workers and students from her years in education. Judy was a 1968 graduate of Rogers High School. She received her B.S. and M.A. from the University of North Alabama and she earned an Ed.S. in Education Leadership from the University of Alabama (Gadsden). Judy taught math at Rogers High School and in the Muscle Shoals school system where she also served as principal at McBride Elementary until retiring in 2008. Judy was a devoted member of Highland Park Baptist Church in Muscle Shoals and enjoyed participating in activities with the ladies in her Sunday school class. She was also a member of the Cypress Lakes Country Club.The family will receive friends from 1-4 p.m. Sunday afternoon and the funeral service will be led by Brother Ted Vafeas, assisted by Terry Thomas at 11 a.m. Monday (both the visitation and service will be held at Highland Park Baptist Church, 6th Street, Muscle Shoals). The body will lie in state beginning at 10 a.m. Monday. Spry Funeral Home, of Athens, will assist the family, and burial will follow at Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens in Florence.Pallbearers will be Chad Yeager, Aaron Yeager, Justin James, Roger Henry, Tanner Craft, Jay Thomas, Richie Thomas, John Passarella and John McCall. Eric Williams will serve as an honorary pallbearer.The family wishes to extend their appreciation to Dr. Michael Straughn and the staff at UAB. Also special appreciation is extended to the many friends from Highland Park Baptist Church and McBride Elementary School, who provided their support during Judy's illness.Donations in memory of Judy's life may be made to the Muscle Shoals Educational Fund, Highland Park Baptist Church or to the Judy Yeager Freeze Math Scholarship Fund at Rogers High School in Lauderdale County.
