Judy F. Martin HILDEBRAN, NC - Mrs. Judy F. Martin, 66 of Hildebran, passed away Saturday, December 27, 2014 at her home, surrounded by her loving family and friends, after a short period of declining health. Mrs. Martin was born December 25, 1948 in Orangeburg, SC, a daughter of the late John O. and Gladys Johnson Ferguson. She grew up in Myrtle Beach and was a graduate of Myrtle Beach High School where she was a member of the band and the varsity basketball team. Mrs. Martin was a faithful member of the Hildebran United Methodist Church where she was active in the church choir and United Methodist Women's Group. She enjoyed crossword and jigsaw puzzles, as well as watching golf. She spent many years as an avid volunteer for Burke County Public Schools. She will be most remembered for her compassion of those in need. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Dr. Jerry W. Martin. Surviving are her daughters, Diane Speigle and husband Todd of Hildebran, Susan Erickson and husband Chris of Hildebran, and Kathy Rayfield and husband Patrick of Collettsville. Also surviving are a brother, James A. Ferguson and wife Millie of Winsboro, SC; a sister Gwen Furse and husband Dr. Jim Furse of Lancaster, SC; five grandchildren, Jessica Peeler and husband Derick, Jacob McMonagle, Nathan McMonagle, Daniel McMonagle, and Emmalee Speigle; beloved friend Edwin Marshburn of Hildebran; and her cherished pets Angel, Daisy, and Ada. Funeral Services for Judy F. Martin will be held 2:00PM Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at Hildebran United Methodist Church with Rev. Tony Bowman officiating. The family will receive friends Monday, December 29, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Service of Valdese. Entombment will follow the funeral service at Catawba Memorial Park Mausoleum.
