Joyce Ann Sasser Thompson, age 66, wife of Wayne Thompson of 107 Sapling Court, died Tuesday, December 29, 2009, at the Rainey Hospice House in Anderson.Born in Opp, Ala. on May 13, 1943, Mrs. Thompson was a daughter of the late Cody Ray Sasser and Doris Louise Currenton, she retired from Bell South as a customer service representative with twenty years of service. She was a member of the CWA and Telephone Pioneers. Survivors include her husband of the home; son, Kirk Lawrence Dockery of Williamston; daughter, Katherine Denise Caldwell of Townville; brother, Bruce L. Sasser and his wife, Jewell, of Mobile, Ala.; sister, Jenny Starrett of Panama City, Fla.; seven grandchildren, Nicki Snay, Mary Roe, Justin Caldwell, Leah Dockery, Kirk Dockery, Austin Dockery and Courtney Thompson; and one great-granddaughter, Georgia Faye Roe.In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a daughter, Sequila Ann Lynn; and her grandmother, who raised her, Ethel Louise Bussey.A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, December 31, 2009, at 3 p.m. in the chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home officiated by the Reverend Steve Lomax.
