MILLER, Joyce Glen AliceMarch 23, 1921 - March 31, 2013 Joyce, recently of Calgary, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 31, 2013 with her granddaughter Gillian by her side at Wentworth Manor, just following her 92nd birthday. She enjoyed a long and healthy life and those who knew her are grateful for their time with her. Joyce was born on March 23, 1921 in Sherbrooke, Quebec and moved to St. Catharines, Ontario as a child. She married her prince charming Charles (Harry) of sixty- seven years there in 1941. Joyce was a stay at home mom and took great pride in her daughters, their education, church and her home. Together, Harry and Joyce had three loving daughters - Judy, Linda and Gail. The family moved to the Maritimes and finally to Bedford, Nova Scotia. Together Joyce and Harry developed lasting relationships everywhere they went. Joyce was an active member of the community as well as a member of the Bedford Lionettes. She was an avid bridge player, piano player, painter, traveller and dog lover. She and Harry co- founded the Bedford Lawn Bowls Club, refereeing and mentoring new members. In 2007, they moved to Western Canada to make the mountains their new home. Joyce fit right in at Sienna Park Green. From 2010 she resided at Wentworth Manor, where she received wonderful care and made many new friends. She enjoyed participating in activities - especially bingo, music and outings. Joyce will be greatly missed by many friends as well as her three daughters - Judith Ann Scott of St. Catharines, Ontario, Linda (Shane) Arsenault of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia and Gail (Donald) Millett of Calgary, Alberta; seven grandchildren - Cathy, Cari, Jeff, Stephany, Gillian, Greg and Christian; and six great-grandchildren - Iain, Devin, Samuel, Jacob, Nickolas and Chase. She was predeceased by her husband Charles (Harry); son-in-law Martin Scott and two sisters Eunice Hills and Audrey Beckett. A celebration of life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY "Park Memorial Chapel" (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Friday, April 12, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. Condolences can be offered through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. If friends so desire, memorial tributes can be made to Wentworth Manor (www.straffordfoundation.org/donations attention Jenny Robinson - Administrator). In living memory of Joyce Miller, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park.
