WILSON, Joyce Isabel (nee Briggs) - January 23, 1932 - December 19, 2011 The family of Joyce Isabel Wilson is heartbroken to announce her passing on December 19, 2011. Beloved widow of Gerald Allan Wilson and devoted mother of John (Carol), Julie Wilson--Robinson (Tim), Jill Wittmann (Van) and Judy Wilson (Bob); grandmother to Eric, Andrew, Emma, Ben and Luke. Joyce is survived by sisters Judith King (the late Steve), Barbara Green (the late Wes) and brother Jim Briggs (Mary), predeceased by brother Bruce Briggs and wife Joanne. Joyce was also loved by her numerous nieces and nephews. Joyce was born on January 23, 1932 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She was the eldest of five born to Lillian (nee Turner) and Russell Briggs. Joyce spent most of her life in Lawrence Park. She attended Bedford Park Public School as well as Lawrence Park High School. Joyce then went on to Ryerson where she was part of the first graduating class (achieved a degree in business). She was also the first female to write for the Ryerson newspaper. It was during her college studies where she met the love of her life at a school dance. They had 44 years together before Gerry's/Dad's passing. Joyce lived a full and wonderful life which encompassed her Faith and Church. Mom loved to cook and bake for her many family members. She was happiest when the house was full of friends and family. Joyce took over her husband's business when he passed and continued to run it until she had her stroke in September 2011. Joyce/Mom also loved spending much of her time with family and friends at her cottage on Georgian Bay. There are simply not enough words to express how much Mom will be missed. What we all hold in our hearts is knowing that she is with her beloved husband Gerry and other cherished family members who went home before her. Joyce's celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, January 17th, 11:00 a.m. at Timothy Eaton Memorial Church, 230 St. Clair Ave. West, Toronto. Get directions, 416-925-5977.
