Scituate Joyce F. (Hamilin) Tower, died surrounded by her loving daughters after a lengthy illness on February 11, at age 78. Wife of the late Edward A. Tower, Joy and Eddie met while she worked selling popcorn outside the Satuit Playhouse in the late 40s. As a young mother, she waitressed at many well-known south shore restaurants including the Garrison, Satuit Cabin, Cliff Hotel, Dreamwold and Coral Gables. In later years, Joy worked as an office administrator at several south shore firms. Joy was active in the arts community, including the Scituate Art Association, the Chorale Arts Society, Scituate Music Guild and Belles & Beaux of Weymouth. As a member of a south shore choral group Sharing A Song, she traveled with the group to Russia when Russia first opened its borders. During her retirement, Joy and Eddie wintered in Naples, Florida and travelled to Hawaii, St. John and Maine. She and her husband celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2000. Devoted mother of Leslie K. Powers and her husband, Buddy of Scituate, Deborah A. Tower and Richard E. Wolfert of Hingham, David H. Tower and his wife, Michele of South Carolina, Carolyn J. Kernozicky and her husband Roger K. of Kingston. Doting grandmother of nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Memorial visitation will be on Friday, February 15 from 6-8 p.m. at the Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home, 382 First Parish Rd., Scituate. Burial will be private.
