-> Glennville - Joyce Bacon Thompson, 84, died Sunday, June 22, 2003 at Satilla Regional Medical Center in Waycross. She was a lifelong resident of Tattnall County and was a member of First Baptist Church in Glennville where she had taught Sunday School, Bible School, and had served on various church committees. She was a graduate of Brewton Parker College and Georgia Teachers College, now Georgia Southern University. She was a retired school teacher having taught 34 years in the Tattnall County School System. She was a member of the Retired Tattnall Teachers Association and the American Legion Auxiliary. Survivors: her husband of 59 years, J. Ishmael Thompson of Glennville; son and daughter-in-law, Juan and Phyllis Thompson of Glennville; sister, Norma Bacon Wilkes of Glennville; brother, John Bacon of Lenoir, N.C.; four grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Visitation: 6:00-8:00 p.m., Monday at Cobb Funeral Home. Funeral Service: 10:00 a.m., Tuesday at Cobb Funeral Home, Glennville Chapel, conducted by Rev. Keith Rustin. Burial Glennville City Cemetery.
