Josie-Mae Williams, born in 1939, spouse of Jesse Williams, daughter of Harry and Hattie, mother of Retha and Janice, died on July 21, 2005 at 65 years old.
ALBANY Josie Mae Williams, 65, entered peacefully into eternal rest at St. Peter's Hospital on July 21, 2005. She was born November 25, 1939 in Rocky Point, N.C. to the late Harry and Hattie Ford and relocated to Albany at an early age. She leaves behind her husband, Jesse Williams. She was the loving mother of Janice Hamilton, Retha (James) Brown; grandchildren, Mercedes Richardson, Janicea and Carletta Hamilton and James R. Brown (Shannon); great-grandmother, Jah-Quan, Quamere, Kennedy Brown, all of Albany. She also leaves behind to cherish in her memories, one sister, Ophelia (O.D.) Pearson, Loudonville, N.Y.; one brother, Lester (Jay) Ford, Albany, N.Y.; two brothers-in-law, Earl (Dora) Williams of Chicago, Ill., Grant Mary Williams of Kalamazoo, Mich.; four sisters-in-law, Mary Ford of Yanceyville, N.C., Pearlean Grice, Albany, N.Y., Opal (Andrew) Carouthers, Okolona, Miss. and Doll Givens, Detroit, Mich.; one goddaughter, Ayanna Hickman-Jackson of Atlanta, Ga.; special niece, Marionette Johnson of Albany; and a host of devoted nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her twin brother, Joseph, and brothers, Harry, William Ford. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 27, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. Viewing will be from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Sojourner Truth AME Zion Church, 351 Livingston Ave. with Pastor Steven Latimer Jr. officiating. Interment, Graceland Cemetery.
