WESTFORD - Josephine R. (Mardas) St. Onge, 95, a longtime local schoolteacher, died Wednesday, July 28, at Emerson Hospital in Concord. She was the wife of J. Edward St. Onge, who died in 1962. Born in Westford on Jan. 7, 1909, a daughter of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Budnik) Mardas, she was a lifelong resident of the town. Mrs. St. Onge was a graduate of Westford Academy and Boston University, where she earned a degree in teaching.Mrs. St. Onge taught in the Westford school system for more than 30 years, retiring as a second-grade teacher at the former Cameron School. She was a member of the Cameron Senior Center in Westford.Mrs. St. Onge enjoyed bird watching, gardening, shopping, world travel, and being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.Her survivors include three daughters and two sons-in-law, Pamela A. and James Crowley of Groton, Karen E. and Randall Knowles of Westford, and Donna L. Castellano of Westford; a son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Jocelyn St. Onge of Farmington, N.H.; 10 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.She was also the sister of the late Bertha Dunigan, and the aunt of the late Peter and Paul Dunigan.
