JONES, Josephine "Jo" (nee Kearns)Passed away peacefully on October 2, 2014, surrounded by her family at the age of 91 at The Village of Aspen Lake. Our mother is predeceased only days ago by her loving husband and best friend for the past 68 years, Herb Jones. Our mom is survived by her 6 children, Ginny Moeser (Jim), Mike (Susan), Bobbie Coote (Chris), Marty (Linda), Nancy Sisti (Tony), and Paul (Cori). Proud grandmother of Andy and Stephanie; Geoff, Kristen, Darren and Andrea; Hillary, Graham and Jesse; the late Bryson (2008); Michael and Christina; and Ryan. She is also survived by 14 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by her parents Michael and Lucy Kearns and by her sisters Dora, Marg, Myrna and Carmel. Jo met Herb during the Second World War in her hometown of Saint John, New Brunswick while Dad was serving in the navy. Our Mom devoted her life raising and caring for her children and volunteered countless hours at Windsor Western Hospital during the 1970's and 1980's. She inherited her father's passion for baking and developed such a homegrown talent as a cook of comfort food for her family that many of her recipes for dinners and desserts were published over the years in local newspapers and magazines. Our family fondly remembers her traditional Sunday dinners of roast beef and Yorkshire pudding. She was a prolific knitter and has left our family a legacy with many handmade sweaters. Our Mom's steadfast devotion to our Dad and our family, her generous and tender, loving kindness, will be missed by all who knew her. A very special thank you to the wonderful staff at The Village of Aspen Lake for their loving care over these past three and a half years, and to the residents and their families who became her second family. Words cannot express our heartfelt gratitude as we all share in the passing of our mother. We take great comfort in knowing that Mom is once again reunited with Dad, and so it should be.
