Untitled JOSEPHINE EDGERTON WILLIAMS "MOMMA JO" JUNE 27, 1924 - DECEMBER 31, 2009 On Thursday, December 31, 2009, Josephine "Momma Jo" Edgerton Williams, of Pensacola, Florida, departed this life and ascended to her new mansion in heaven. Josephine was born in Durham, North Carolina on June 27, 1924 to the late Marie Williams and James Silas Edgerton. Josephine relocated to Newark, New Jersey and worked at General Electric. She retired from First Baptist Church, Pensacola, Florida after many, many years of service. Josephine was preceded in death by her husband, Deacon Cotis Williams, Sr. Josephine "Momma Jo" was a devoted Mother and Deaconess at Zion Hope Primitive Baptist Church, Pensacola, Florida. She served the Church in Sunday school, the Ushers' Ministry, Women's Auxiliary, the Beautification Committee, Pastor's Appreciation, the Wedding Ministry, and many other areas as she was needed. She was also a faithful volunteer of the Waterfront Mission. Josephine was an active M.C.P. Keen Chapter No. 109 O.E.S., A.F. and A.M. Supreme Deputy Daughter of Sphinx. She held numerous positions in Pasha Court #55. She leaves a devoted and loving son, Kenneth (Delores) Edgerton of Pensacola, Florida; step-sons, Eugene Edgerton Martin of Bronx, New York, and Cotis Williams, Jr. of Pensacola, Florida, and step-daughters, Veonie Edgerton Martin-Sutton of Louisburg, North Carolina and Gerthie Ann Williams of Pensacola, Florida; four sisters and one brother, six granddaughters and two grandsons, 10 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchild-ren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, a host of Church daughters, and a host friends. Visitation will be Friday, January 8, 2010 from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the Tracy Morton Memorial Chapel. Funeral services will be Saturday, January 9, 2010 at 12:00 P.M. at Zion Hope Primitive Baptist Church with Pastor Bernard C. Yates officiating. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery. The Family would like to give a special thank you to Baptist Manor and their staff for their dedication and kindness. Tracy Morton Memorial Chapel is in Charge of Arrangements.
