PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla., and MILLINOCKET - Joseph Louis Belanger, 73, died Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2009, at his home in Florida. He was born Nov. 9, 1935, in Fort Kent, the son of Joseph and Marie Belanger. He grew up in Millinocket and was a graduate of St. Martin of Tours High School, Class of 1954. He served in the Maine National Guard and the 82nd Airborne, from which he was honorably discharged. Joseph worked for Fairfax County Government, Fairfax, Va., for 21 years before retiring in 1993. He moved to Port St. Lucie, Fla., in 1994 and was a member of Saint Lucie Catholic Church. Joseph enjoyed playing golf, cards, working on word puzzles and was an avid sports fan. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Priscilla (Patterson) Belanger of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; a sister, Edwina Belanger of Dover-Foxcroft; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, at Millinocket Cemetery. Arrangements are by Lamson Funeral Home, Millinocket.
