JORDAN Joseph James Passed away suddenly on July 27th, 2008 after a brief stay in the hospital, from post-surgical complications. Joe was a gentle, kind and generous man with a devotion to his family. He was born Josip Jankovich in Crikvenica, Croatia in 1922 and moved to Vancouver with his family when he was 14. He attended high school at Templeton and then trained to become a machinist. He continued the family fishing heritage by working as a commercial fisherman with B.C. Packers before developing his long career as a machinist with Seaspan International at Vancouver Shipyards. Always a natural athlete, Joe was a talented soccer player. He played halfback for St. Saviors F.C. of the Pacific Coast League between 1945 and 1954 and was elected to two B.C. Mainland All-star teams. In later life he enjoyed golfing and daily walks near his home. He will be lovingly remembered by Anne, his wife of 60 years; his children Bob (Kathy), Barb (Jim), Steve (Chris), Joanne (Ralph); his grandchildren Bianca, Rory, Perry, Owen, Alyssa; sister Matilda and brother Gordon (Slats). Prayers will be held on Friday, August 1st at 9:00 p.m. at Holy Cross Parish, 1450 Delta Ave., Burnaby. Funeral Mass on Saturday, August 2nd at 2:00 p.m.
