HOZA Joseph John Hoza Jr., 79, passed away October 18, 2007. He was born on August 25, 1928 to Joseph and Irene Hoza in Pittsburgh, PA. Joseph served on the USS Takanis Bay (CVE-89) as an air crewman and on several Navy Aircraft during World War II. He was a recipient of the Pacific Theater Ribbon, American Theater Ribbon and Victory Medal. After the War, Joseph returned to Pittsburgh were he married Kathryn, his loving wife of 56 years and became a member of the 211 Carpenter's Union. He later became a major project construction manager responsible for building high rises and industrial material handling facilities around the United States. Joseph also served as the Vice Commodore of the Oakmont Yacht Club. After moving to Florida, Joseph and Kathryn became faithful members of Our Lady Star Of The Sea in Ponte Vedra Beach. Joseph volunteered at the TPC Sawgrass for over twenty years, along with being involved with the Navy League and was also a member of the Palm Valley Post 233 American Legion. Joseph is survived by his loving wife, Kathryn Hoza; son, Chris and Joanie Hoza; daughter, Kathy and Don Bozich; grandchildren, Jacquelyn Hoza and Matthew Bozich; sisters, Rene and Wade Koykendall, Monica Cox, and Nancy and Red Stephens, along with several nieces and nephews. A Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, October 25, 11:00 am, at Our Lady Star Of The Sea, Ponte Vedra Beach. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Mayport Navy League, Navy League Mayport Sea Cadets, c/o John Vargo, 13744 Canfield Court, Jacksonville FL, 32224, in Honor of Joseph Hoza.
