SCOTT - Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 23, 2005, at a Mass of Christian Burial in the Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Scott for Joseph "Mickey" Hebert, 60, who died at 7:55 p.m. Sunday, March 20, 2005, at his residence in Scott.Interment will be in the Calvary Cemetery.The Rev. Mark Melancon, associate pastor of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, will be the celebrant of the funeral Mass and will conduct the services. Con-celebrant will be the Rev. Bill Gearhard, pastor of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church.A native of Lafayette and a resident of Scott for 25 years, Mr. Hebert was a member of the Louisiana National Guard.Prior to his retirement he was employed by the Lafayette Parish School Board as an educator for 33 years. He also taught at USL and was a state supervisor for Industrial Technology. Mr. Hebert molded the lives of many high school and college students and was named the Outstanding Industrial Arts Teacher of Louisiana.He was a founding member of the Acadiana Golf Society, a board member of the Louisiana Open and co-founder of the Junior AGS/Dr. Pepper Golf Tournament for 26 years.Mr. Hebert was the owner of Joseph M. Hebert Construction Company and was a member of the Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Community in Scott where he served as a Eucharistic minister and a former religious education teacher.He was a man of many different talents who enjoyed everything about life and he passed it on to everyone he knew. Mickey was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to all. He gave his time and heart to the St. Jude's Dream Home and was an inspiration to hundreds of kids as a basketball and baseball coach. Everyone who knew him was touched in some way.Survivors include his wife, Patricia S. Hebert, of Scott; three daughters, Lisa M. Darby and her husband, Terry, of Lafayette, Sandi L. Cormier and her husband, Todd, of Youngsville, and Cherie Duhon and her husband, Richard, of Baton Rouge; two sons, Chris J. Hebert and his wife, Michelle, of Scott, and Ben T. Hebert and his wife, Danielle, of Duson; seven grandchildren, Jenson Darby, Drew Hebert, Landon Cormier, Parker Duhon, Madelyn Hebert, Angelina Hebert and Gavin Cormier; his mother, Jeanne Hebert Bass; one brother, Rodney J. Hebert, of Lafayette; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Bill and Millie Stroderd; and one nephew, Rene Gaudin and his wife, Natalie.He was preceded in death by his father, Pervis J. Hebert; one son, Joseph M. Hebert Jr.; his step-father, Henry A. Bass; one sister, Janet M. Gaudin; and one sister-in-law, Cyndie Hebert.A rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. today in the Martin & Castille Funeral Home.The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. today and will continue from 9 a.m. Wednesday until time of services.Pallbearers will be Phil Walls, Mike Mier, James Huval, Errol Benoit, Ronnie Baudoin, Wayne Wills, Cory Wills and Preston Vincent.Honorary pallbearers will be Rodney Hebert, Jenson Darby, Drew Hebert and Rene Gaudin.Arrangements have been entrusted to Martin & Castille Funeral Home Inc. of Lafayette, (337) 234-2311.
