Gracewood State School & Hospital Retiree AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mr. Johnnie Walter (Shorty) Davis of Memory Drive entered into rest Monday, June 30, 2008. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 5, 2008 at 2 p.m. at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church with Rev. Bobby Hankerson officiating. Burial will be in Franklin Covenant Baptist Church Cemetery, Hephzibah. He was a native of Richmond Co.; a member of Covenant Baptist Church and a retired employee of Gracewood State School & Hospital. Survivors are his wife, Mildred Davis; mother, Ella Davis, McBean, Ga.; four daughters, Audrey (Steve) Burton, Tega Coy, S.C., Symone Davis, Joquinn (Fred) Turner, Markieshia Lambert; five sons, Johnnie (Lucy) Davis, Jr., Darren (Gwen) Davis, Byron Davis, Marcus Davis, Butler Nero, all of Augusta; mother-in-law, Roberta Dixon; two sisters, Ethel Darlington, Atlanta, Ga., Janice Brown; brother, Willie Jones, Augusta; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; six sisters-in-law; five brothers-in-law; devoted niece, Desi (Carl) Bradford, Calif.; nieces, nephews, cousins; other relatives and friends.
