Epping - John "Jack" Wright Runcie III, 80, died on Feb. 10, 2014, at the Rockingham County Nursing Home in Brentwood. He was born on Aug. 31, 1933, in Winthrop, Mass., the son of the late John W. Runcie Jr. and Helena (Cotter) Runcie. Jack grew up in Somerville, Mass., and was a graduate of Somerville High School. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War from 1953-1957 as an airman first class radio technician. In 1959, he moved to Epping and spent the summers in Sandown. He was formerly employed at Raytheon in Andover, Mass., and also as a production supervisor for Teledyne Electro-Mechanisms in Nashua. He later worked as a bus driver for Seacoast Learning Collaborative. Jack was a member of the American Legion Post 51 in Epping and was an avid Red Sox and Bruins fan. He loved music, enjoyed driving and taking rides around New England, and most of all, enjoyed time spent with his family. Jack was predeceased by his three siblings: Richard and Edward Runcie and Elaine Roman. He was the proud father of four children, Donna M. Runcie of Ipswich, Mass., John W. Runcie IV of Epping, Robert M. Runcie of Epping, Diane M. Carpenter of Raymond; his beautiful granddaughter, Adriana G. Brooks of Raymond, who was the light in his eyes; and several nieces and nephews. . SERVICES: Calling hours will be held on Monday, Feb. 17, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Brewitt Funeral Home, 9 Pleasant St., Epping. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, Feb. 18, at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Church, 200 Pleasant St., Epping. Burial with military honors will be held at St. Joseph Cemetery in Epping in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Camp Allen, 56 Camp Road, Bedford, NH 03110.
