John Macleod Williams of Plymouth formerly of Hastings-on-Hudson, NY, unexpectedly, Nov. 22. Leaving behind his wife, Donna; sisters, Sarah MacCrane and Julie Williams, both of Virginia; seven nieces and nephews and four grandnieces and nephews. He was born in Dunkirk, NY, June 22, 1945. His family owned The Dunkirk Observer. His father was the late Macleod Williams and his mother the late Sarah Goldsmith. A graduate of Syracuse University, John also served in the Air Force in Vietnam. He always made a point of thanking other veterans on Veteran's Day for their service. He flew his Country's flag at all hours in all weather because he said our troops were fighting all the time. John was an avid golfer, boxing instructor, fisherman, game hunter, scuba diver, dog lover and writer. His first jobs were for The Daily News and UPI wire services. His last position was as senior vice president in China for Xinhua/PR Newswire. He especially enjoyed riding his tractor in Vermont. He will be missed by all who knew him. The funeral service will take place Sunday at 5:30 p.m. at the Cartmell Funeral Home, 150 Court St., Plymouth. Friends and relatives are welcome to the visitation at Cartmell Funeral Home Sunday from 3 to 5:30 p.m. Cremation will take place at Vine Hills Crematory, Plymouth.
