John William Sorensen IIIJohn William Sorensen III , born March 3, 1948 in Tallahassee, passed away suddenly in Cape Canaveral, Florida on March 14, at 65. Bill's passion for literature and the arts, and in hurricane history, began early on. As a graduate from Leon High School in 1966 and devout Seminole Fan, he studied at FSU earning a B.A and B.S. in History and Sociology; a Master of Arts in History; with a major in Hotel/Restaurant Management. He employed his passion as Manager for Walden Books and Buyer for Books-A-Million, William Morrow, and Prima Publishing. Bill meticulously compiled a hurricane tracking library for every storm, by year, throughout his life. His keen wit and sharp intellect, unique sense of style and passionate character, will be missed by many local friends. He is predeceased by his loving grandmother Eleanor McBride of Tallahassee and mother Helen Tubbs; survived by half sister Brenda Tubbs of Oak Point, TX, Uncles Robert McBride of Havana and Charles L. McBride of Monticello; several cousins, and his closest friend and caregiver.
