John William LeeDecaturFuneral service for John William Lee, 82, of Decatur will be Thursday, September 1, 2011, at 11 a.m. at Shelton Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Robert P. Lee, Elder John D. Lee and Pastor Tony Pitts officiating. The family will receive friends this evening from 5 to 7 at the funeral home. Interment will be in Roselawn Cemetery.Mr. Lee, who died Monday, August 29, 2011, at his residence, was born April 14, 1929, in Morgan County to John D. Lee and Myrtie Hill Lee. He owned and operated Lee's Shoes, Boots and Clothing for 54 years. Mr. Lee was a member of Seventh Day Adventist Church and a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Korean Conflict.He is survived by his loving wife, Gloria Ann Winton Lee; three sons, John D. Lee (Sheila) of Escatawpa, Miss., Robert P. Lee (Tamela) of Hartselle and Jerry D. Lee (Susan) of Chattanooga, Tenn.; two daughters, Freda G. Gresham (Don) and Debby A. Lee, both of Decatur; 10 grandchildren, Michael Gresham, Christine Smith, J.R. Smith, Blake Pierce (Stacey) and Reese Pierce (Miranda), all of Hartselle, Amanda Lee, Chad Lee and Chris Lee, all of Chattanooga, Tenn., Katie Knighten (Colt) of Priceville and Ben Lee of Atlanta, Ga.; and three great-grandchildren, Ashton Knighten of Priceville, and Zachary Nilson and Hope Gresham, both of Hartselle.Pallbearers will be grandsons.
