John W. Metcalf III BRIDGEWATER John W. J.B. Metcalf III, of Bridgewater, died peacefully Jan. 21. He was age 67. John was born in Brockton, Sept. 5, 1942, to the late John and Gwendolyn Metcalf. He graduated from Brockton High School in 1960 and earned a bachelor's degree from Bridgewater State College in 1964. John was a teacher for over 40 years in Hanover and Whitman. He was an avid gardener and fisherman. John also loved animals, especially his dog and cat. John was the loving husband of 45 years to Patricia A. (Wennerstrand) Metcalf of Bridgewater; loving father of Lori L. Kemmler and her husband Michael of Illinois and Lisa A. Grady and her husband Kevin of Washington. He was the proud grandfather of Nicholas, Cassie, Noah and Danica; loving brother of Thalia N. Webb and her husband Rodney of Maine. Friends and family are invited to a memorial visitation period at the Prophett-Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 98 Bedford St., Bridgewater, Sunday, Jan. 24, from 1 p.m. to 3:45 p.m., followed by a memorial service at 4 p.m. Donations in Johns memory may be sent to the Animal Protection Center, 1300 West Elm St. Ext., Brockton, MA 02301.
