Obituary of John-Thomas Carter


John Thomas Carter, 90, of Springfield, Mo., passed away Sunday, June 10, 2012, at Mercy Hospital. A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, June 13, 2012, at Greenlawn Funeral Home East, Springfield, Mo. Inurnment will take place at a later date in Hazelwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 6 p.m. before the service. Arrangements have been entrusted to Greenlawn Funeral Home East, Springfield, Mo. Online condolences may be made at greenlawnfuneralhome.com. John was born Jan. 9, 1922, in Jersey City, N.J., to Joseph and Anna (Wzienczkowska) Mizeski. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Loretta Carter; two infant sons; his brother, Bill, and a sister, Jean. He is survived by his son, Bob Carter, and wife, Beth, of Rogersville, Mo.; three grandchildren, Allison Twist and husband, Erik, of Scottsdale, Ariz.; Jessica Connolly and husband, Doug, of Austin, Texas, and Amy Highfill of North Hollywood, Calif.; six great-grandchildren, Carter, Mason, Andrew, Cooper, Eliot and Miriam; one sister, Barbara Spidella of New Mexico; his companion, Maxine David of Springfield, Mo., as well as other dear relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Kitchen.
