BIRCHENOUGH - John T. III, age 72, died peacefully on Thursday, September 9, 2004 at the Valley Hospital in Ridgewood. John was born in Paterson on May 12, 1932. He was a resident of Wyckoff for the past 52 years. John was a Brick Layer for Allied Craft workers Local #4 in Fairfield for more than 50 years. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, and was a parishioner of St. Elizabeth's R.C. Church in Wyckoff. Surviving are his sons, John T. IV of Hopatcong, NJ, Vincent and Robert both of Wyckoff, and Clark of Palm Grove, FL, nine grandchildren, his brother Bill of Wyckoff, sisters Eleanor Watts of Wyckoff, and Edna Flynn of St. Louis, MO. John also leaves his faithful companion Fred the Bassett Hound. John was predeceased by his wife of 49 years Emma "Kitty" (nee Welfel) in 2001. Friends may visit at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home 257 Godwin Avenue Wyckoff on Monday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association, 1600 Route 22 East, Union, NJ 07083, American Cancer Society, 20 Mercer Street, Hackensack, NJ 07601, or the Bitsy Madigan Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 626, Franklin Lakes, NJ 07417.
