-><!-- DisplayFullObituaryText -->Swartz, John S. "Jack"John S. "Jack" Swartz of 6035 Turnpike Road, Mecklenburg passed away at home on Monday, September 16, 2013 at the age of 85. Jack was born in Trenton, New Jersey on July 11, 1928 a son of the late Ralph and Mabel (Kirby) Swartz Sr. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1953. Jack's marriage to Betty J. Swartz on October 21, 1955 marked the beginning of a life full of love, friendship, and family. He worked at NYSEG for many years, retiring in 1989 as a Chief Line Mechanic. Following his retirement from NYSEG, Jack began working for the Ness-Sibley Funeral Home where he remained a loyal and cherished employee. Jack was an active member of both the Mecklenburg and Trumansburg communities. He was a founding member of the Mecklenburg Volunteer Fire Department, faithful member of St. James Catholic Church, and lifetime member of the American Legion Post 770 in Trumansburg. Jack loved watching the New York Yankees and was always on the move going to local fish fry's, having breakfast at the Falls Tavern, visiting family and friends, going on trips with the local Senior Citizen groups, or just puttering on projects at home. Jack is survived by two sons, Michael J. (Lisa) Swartz of Webster and Timothy S. (Debbie) Swartz of Trumansburg; two daughters, Jacqueline (Ronald) Bacorn of Dryden and Deborah (Bernard) Anderalli of East Syracuse; and nine grandchildren, Terry Bacorn, Anthony, Joseph, and Alyssa Anderalli, Stephanie, Megan, and Tyler Swartz, and Matthew and Jonathan Swartz. In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his wife, Betty J. Swartz in 2011; and a brother, Ralph M. Swartz Jr. The family will be present to receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00pm on Friday, September 20, 2013 at the Ness-Sibley Funeral Home, 23 South Street, Trumansburg. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am on Saturday, September 21st at St. James Catholic Church in Trumansburg. Prayers of committal and Military Honors will immediately follow in St. James Cemetery.
