TUSCALOOSA John Robert Lee, age 81, of Tuscaloosa, died March 21, 2009, at home. Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Forest Lake Baptist Church with Dr. Donald Payne officiating. Burial will follow in Tuscaloosa Memorial Park with Heritage Chapel Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be this evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Daniel Lee, his mother, Eva McCracken Lee, his brother, DeArch Lee, and his sister, Peggy Hardin.Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Peggy Farmer Lee; his daughters, Janet Lee Moore (Brad) and Joy Lee Campbell (Jeff); and his son, Danny Lee (Mitzi), all of Tuscaloosa; his sisters, Carolyn Harris (Glen) of Tuscaloosa and Doris Mae Bethel of Henderson, Nev.; his grandchildren, Greg Moore, Darryl Moore (Dara), Brandon Lee, Alex Lee, Ashlyn Grammar (Preston), Evie Campbell, Kaitlynn Campbell, and Kellsey Campbell, all of Tuscaloosa; and his great-grandchildren, Madison Moore and John Colson Grammar of Tuscaloosa.John Robert was born and raised in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. He attended Tuscaloosa High School and was captain of the football team. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. After his tour, he attended The University of Alabama and received his BS degree in accounting while also working at The BF Goodrich Co. and later RJF International Corp., retiring after 52 years. He was the owner of The Frame Up in Downtown Tuscaloosa.John Robert served as an active deacon at Forest Lake Baptist Church and taught his adult Sunday School class. He especially enjoyed Alabama football, baseball, and spending time with his family.John Robert was truly a servant of the Lord and a wonderful role model for his children and grandchildren. He never met a stranger and was loved dearly by everyone who knew him. He will be greatly missed.Pallbearers will be grandsons Greg Moore, Darryl Moore, Brandon Lee, and Alex Lee; and Bill Benford, Stan Hobby, Steve Brown, James (Honky) Wright, Ted Brock, and Dr. James (Monk) Mosely.Honorary pallbearers are members of Forest Lake Baptist Church and his Sunday School class, members of the Black Bear Breakfast Club, Gary Lewis, Alan Watson Prayer Breakfast Group (Calvary Baptist), former employees of The BF Goodrich Co., University of Alabama Quarterback Club, Dr. John Summerford and Dr. John Mantle, and neighbors and friends.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a favorite charity or church.
