John Riley "Dad" Smith III, 57, of Panama City, Fla., passed away Thursday, Dec. 25, 2008. John was born March 6, 1951, in Dover, Del., to John Riley Smith II and Winiferd Pearce Smith. Mr. Smith served 30 years in the United States Air Force, during which time he served in the Vietnam War and was a proud member of the RED HORSE Squadron. Mr. Smith enjoyed many things in life, but was a huge fan of the Beach Boys and loved college basketball, his favorite team being Gonzaga University. John is survived by a son, John Riley Smith IV of Panama City, Fla. A memorial celebration of life will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, Jan. 5, 2009, at Tyndall Air Force Base's Chapel 1.
