OLIVER, John Richard October 17th, 1940 November 7th, 2010 Passed away peacefully in his home on November 7th, 2010 with his wife Gail at his side. John was born and raised in Victoria and spent his life in dedication to his family. He was predeceased by his parents Hilda (Toots) and Jack. John is survived by his wife of 47 years Gail, his brother Don (Maureen) and sister Rita (George), brother-in-law Tom (Connie), sons Gordon (Tracy), Donald (Maureen) and Michael (Shannon), grandsons Brodie, Jordan and Maxwell, and grandaughter Isabel. John worked as a carpenter for 50 years, starting with his father at the age of 17 and retiring from Campbell Construction in 1998, being one of their first employees and having mentored many apprentices. John enjoyed playing fastball, hockey and golf, gardening and camping. John was a proud father and grandfather and will be remembered most for providing a home on West Saanich Road to raise his family and entertain his family and friends. No service by request. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Red Cross or Canadian Cancer Society would be much appreciated. John's remains will be returned to the home he so much loved. 610036
