John R. "Bob" Poirier II, 86, Bradenton, died June 16, 2005. He was born Aug. 14, 1918, in Lapeer, Mich., and came to Manatee County in 1981 from Flint, Mich. He was past commodore of Trailer Estates Yacht Club, past commander of the Power Squadron in Flint and former chairman of the Board of Trustees at Trailer Estates. He was a private in the Army Air Forces during World War II and received the American Theater Ribbon, the Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. He was a member of Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Catholic Church. Survivors include his wife, Yvonne; a daughter, Barbara Swift of Grand Blanc, Mich.; sons John R. III and David, both of Grand Blanc, and Joseph of Lakeville, Minn.; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. No visitation or services are planned. Brown and Sons Funeral Home, 26th Street Chapel, is in charge.
