John-R. Michaud, born in 1927, spouse of Arline-E. Buxton, son of John and Elizabeth, father of David R, John and N. Y, died on August 23, 2008 at 81 years old.
CONCORD -- John Robert Michaud, 81, died Aug. 23, 2008, at home. He was born in Island Falls, Maine, to John E. and Elizabeth (Goodblood) Michaud. He attended school in Concord. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He worked for the Boston and Maine Railroad from 1947 to 1956. He joined the U.S. Postal Service Office in 1960, serving as a letter carrier, retiring in 1987. He loved spending time with family and friends, having cookouts, playing cards and fishing. He was a longtime member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Concord, a life member of American Legion Post 21 in Concord, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1631 of Concord and a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles 613 in Concord. He was predeceased by his wife of 57 years, Arline E. (Buxton) Michaud, in 2005. Family members include two sons, David R. Michaud of Belmont, and John Michaud of New Rochelle, N.Y.; one brother, Ronald Michaud of Franklin; one sister, Frances Secord of Bath, N.B., Canada; nine grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. SERVICES: Calling hours will be Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Bennett Funeral Home, 209 North Main St., Concord. A Mass of Christian burial will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 180 Loudon Road, Concord. Burial will follow at 2 p.m. at N.H. State Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen. Memorial contributions may be made to Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 180 Loudon Road, Concord 03301.
