John-R. Harrington, father of Tracey, Scott and John, died on June 6, 2008.
Harrington, John R., passed away June 6th, 2008, after a short illness. He and his family have been residents of Broward County, Florida, since 1960, after relocating from Massachusetts. Mr. Harrington attended Northeast University and was graduated from Boston University Law School. He practiced law for 29 years; part of the time he presided as a Municipal Judge. He was a member of a number of fraternal organizations including the Elks, Eagles, and Moose. Mr. Harrington was a charter member of the Broward County Criminal Defense Association in the 1960s, a member of the first Broward County Charter Review Board, and President and founder of the Harrington Kidney Foundation. He belonged to the Scottish Rite of Lake Worth and was a 32nd Degree Mason. He served in Korea, earned 2 battle stars and a China Service Ribbon. Mr. Harrington was thereafter transferred to the staff of the Commander-in-Chief Pacific, where he served 2 years before being discharged. Mr. Harrington is survived by Jean Harrington, the former Jean Carter of Bar Harbor, Maine; 2 sons, John and Scott; a daughter, Tracey Miller; and 4 grandchildren, Daniel, Andrew, Savannah, and John R. Services will be private.
