JOHN F. PETERS John Peters passed away at St. Paul's Hospital on April 17, 2009. As a boy he attended River Park School near Aberdeen, then moved on to support the service during WWII at Camp Dundurn. After the war, John apprenticed in the Plumbing trade Indentured with ME Cook Mechanical. John was proud to hold the #3 Gas Service ticket issued in Saskatoon. John moved from the trade to the office to become a partner and later President of ME Cook Mechanical. During that time he was a member of the Mechanical Contractors Assoc. and past President. He also was a lifetime member of ASRAE Society. Social activities were enjoyed with the Kinsmen of Saskatoon who later grew to be the K-40 members who held strong friendships until his death. He participated in hunting and fishing adventures throughout his life with his brothers, family and friends. He was especially fond of the annual fishing trip with close friends at McLean Lake north of LaRonge. After retirement at 65 years of age, John moved on to gardening while always holding the philosophy of trees are necessary for a healthy life. John became an avid researcher in Mennonite Heritage taking him into his past family history and special travels to Southern Manitoba and Waterloo, Ontario. John will be missed by family and friends while he rests with his grandfather at the Olgafeld cemetery north of Aberdeen, Sk. He is survived by his children: Debra Peters (Rick Kolstad); Beth Peters; Jonathan (Joanne) Peters; Jason Peters; Janet (Bill) Varley; Lisa Peters (Al Koning); grandchildren, Peter Varley, Andrew Varley; sisters, Helen Huniak, Agatha (Les) Fairbrother; many other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, John and Katharine Peters; brothers, Bill and Harvey; sister, Mary. Funeral service will be held at Third Avenue United Church, Saskatoon, SK, on Wednesday, April 27, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Donna Wilson officiating.
