WILLIAMS John P. Williams Elevator mechanic, Navy vet, grandfather, 58 John P. Williams of East Brunswick passed away on Aug. 2, 2008, at the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. He was 58. The family will receive friends at the Bronson & Guthlein Funeral Home of Milltown on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services are on Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment is at Holy Cross Burial Park, East Brunswick. (www.bronson andguthleinfh.com). Born in Jersey City, John was a resident of East Brunswick for 35 years. He was a veteran serving in the U.S. Navy. After leaving the service, he began his 35-year career as an elevator mechanic for the Schindler Elevator Company in Morristown. A tireless hard worker, John was a member of the Local No. 1 Elevator Union and served as a shop steward for many years. A skilled woodworker and handyman, he would always find time to help out family and friends. He was a charitable man who was very generous with his time, talent and treasure. John enjoyed playing golf, gardening and spending special time with his grandson, Jack. A devoted husband, father and grandfather, he was truly loved and will be missed by all who knew him. John is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Marianne E. Williams; two devoted daughters, Stacy D. Sullivan and her husband, John, of Spotswood and Jill A. Williams and her fiance, Jeremy Hampton, of North Brunswick; two sisters and three brothers, Susan Ferdinando of Martinsville, Karen Katz of East Brunswick, Philip Williams of Howell, Patrick Williams of South River and David Williams of Bethlehem, Pa. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Elizabeth ONeill of Milltown, and two grandsons, Jack and Riley. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Johns Grandchildren Trust Fund at RBC Dain Rauscher, 25 Hanover Rd., Florham Park, N.J. 07932 (Att: John Stokes) would be appreciated.
