John O. Carter, 88, of 33 Pendleton Road, died Friday, Feb. 22, 2002. Born in Spartanburg County, he was the husband of the late Ruby Lois Carter, and son of the late John H. and Emma Raines Carter. Mr. Carter attended Brandon Baptist Church, and until his retirement worked at Abney Mills, Poinsett Plant, for 41 years. Surviving are a daughter, Mary C. Richter, of Spartanburg; a brother, Jerry Carter, of Gaffney; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a special friend, Iris Ivey. He was predeceased by two sons, Pete Curtis Carter and L.C. Worley. Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Graceland Cemetery, West, with the Reverend Jimmy Smith officiating.
