John Newton Shannahan II John Newton Shannahan II went to be with the King of Kings and Lord of the Universe on August 6, 2010. He was born on July 5, 1927, in Hampton, Va., the second son of William Dean and Mary Elizabeth Shyne Shannahan. He graduated from Goshen High School (Indiana) where he excelled in track, football, and basketball.Then he served as a cadet midshipman at the Merchant Marine Academy at Gulfport, MS and King's Point, NY. After attending Purdue University for one year, he transferred to Indiana University where he graduated with a degree in marketing. There he was a member of Theta Chi Fraternity and met his wife of 58 years, Barbara June Tremper of Evansville, IN. He began his sales career with Shaeffer Pen Company where he won a 1957 Ford Country Squire.In 1965, he became a clothing broker selling women's custom clothing throughout the Southeast. There he led the company in sales for many years and set every sales record ever made with Utah Tailoring. In 1995, he retired after many years of traveling. He enjoyed golf which he's played since age eight in addition to FSU football, and Indiana basketball and spending time with his family at Alligator Point and St. Teresa.He was a member of Advent Episcopal Church for 41 years and is currently a member of Holy Cross Anglican Church. His passions were his commitment to the Lord Jesus Christ, his family, and his career. He will be remembered for his friendly smile, quick wit and the many lives he touched. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Darby Barbazon and husband, Doug of Atlanta; his son, John Newton Shannahan III and wife, Tammy of Panama City Beach; 4 grandchildren, Trey Barbazon and wife, Tessa, Birmingham, AL; Sloan Barbazon, Atlanta; Keely and Kyle Shannahan, Panama City Beach; 1 sister, Elizabeth Nesper and her husband Jim of Cleveland, OH; sister-in-love, Barbara H. Shannahan, Clearwater; brother-in-love, Jon DeWitt Tremper and wife, Marilyn, Satellite Beach, 12 nieces and nephews and his beloved poodle, Stormy.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Holy Cross Anglican Church, 2910 Kerry Forest Pkwy D4-291, Tallahassee, FL 32309 or Big Bend Hospice, 1723 Mahan Center Blvd, Tallahassee, FL 32308. The celebration of life will be held Sunday, August 15, at Holy Cross Anglican Church, 4859 Kerry Forest Pkwy, at Community Christian School at 2 p.m. EDT. The family will receive guests following the service at Four Oaks Community Church across the street.
