JOHN THOMASMOON, IIVIRGINIA BEACH, VA - John Thomas Moon, II, 58, died on Tuesday morning, September 18, 2012. John was a native of Asheville, North Carolina. He graduated from Davidson College and earned his post-graduate degree from The University of Tennessee. His railroad career at Norfolk Southern Corporation began while he was a college student, working during the summers at Southern Railway in Asheville.John is survived by his wife, Mary Dillon Moon, and sons, Thomas Dillon Moon and James Julian Moon. He is survived also by his sister, Mary Moon Outten. John was predeceased by his parents, Dr. Richard Young Moon and Elizabeth Alison Moore Moon and grandparents, John Thomas Moon and Ruth Young Moon, and Dr. Julian Alison Moore and Imogene Bellamy Moore.A graveside service was held in Fletcher, North Carolina on September 20, 2012 at Calvary Episcopal Churchyard which was officiated by the Very Rev. Todd M. Donatelli.A memorial service will be held this Saturday, September 29, 2012 at 2:00pm at the Virginia Beach Community Chapel, 1261 Laskin Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23451, officiated by the Rev. Donald Seymore. Following the service, a reception will be held at the Chapel.
