CONCORD ; John Robert "Bob" Michaud, 81, died Saturday, Aug. 23, 2008 at home.He was born in Island Falls, Maine, the son of John E. and Elizabeth (Goodblood) Michaud. He attended school in Concord and joined the Navy at age 17 in 1943. He served during World War II and also the Korean Conflict onboard the Aircraft Carrier USS Wasp.He worked for the Boston & Maine Railroad from 1947 to 1956. He then joined the U.S. Post Office in 1960, serving as a letter carrier, retiring in 1987. He loved spending time with family and friends, having cookouts, playing cards and fishing.He was a longtime member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Concord, a life member of the American Legion, Post 21 in Concord, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 1631 of Concord and was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 613 in Concord. He was predeceased by his wife of 57 years, Arline E. (Buxton) Michaud in 2005. He is survived by two sons, David R. Michaud and his wife Gloria of Belmont and John Michaud and his wife Sonia of New Rochelle, N.Y.; one brother, Ronald Michaud and his wife Pauline of Franklin; one sister, Frances Secord of Bath, New Brunswick; nine grandchildren, Wayne Michaud and his wife Rosa of Belmont, Thomas M. Michaud and his wife Tricia of Portsmouth, Gary D. Michaud of West Concord, Christopher, Lia, Sarah, Joshua and Emily Michaud of New Rochelle, N.Y., and Andre Santana of New Rochelle, N.Y.; many nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2008, at the Bennett Funeral Home, 209 North Main St., Concord. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 28, 2008, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 180 Loudon Road, Concord.
