Obituary of John-Michael-Burgner II


John Michael Burgner II MONROE TOWNSHIP - John Michael Burgner II, 95, formerly of Hamilton, NJ, and Avon Park, FL, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 28, at Monroe Village Healthcare Center, Monroe Township, NJ, surrounded by family. Mr. Burgner was born in Trenton, received his BS degree in engineering from Rutgers University, and lived in New Jersey for most of his adult life. He retired from IMO Delaval Industries in 1979 after 43 years of service as a manager of purchasing, IMO Pump Division. He was a member of Saint Mark United Methodist Church, the Mercer Lodge No. 50 F&AM and Trenton Forest No. 4, Tall Cedars of Lebanon, and a past president of the Purchasing Agents Club of Trenton. His love of nature was captured in black and white photography, his avocation. He participated in many art shows throughout New Jersey and Pennsylvania and was recognized as an avid photographer, winning awards for his work. Predeceased by his parents, John R. and Ella Zander Burgner, and his wife of almost 60 years, Norma Taylor Burgner, he is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Joan and Glenn Thomas Gray of North Hanover Township; four grandchildren, Lisa Gray (Joseph Messina), Neil T. Gray, Jessica M. Hammond (Matthew) and Brian J. Gray; two great-grandchildren, Taylor and Gavin Hammond, and dear friend, Molly Lott. Friends and family may call Friday, Oct. 7, 4-6:30 p.m. at Saint Mark United Methodist Church, 465 Paxson Ave., Hamilton Square, NJ 08690. A memorial service will follow at 6:30 p.m. Private interment services will be held in Greenwood Cemetery, Hamilton Township, NJ. In lieu of flowers, Mr. Burgner's wish was that contributions be made to Saint Mark United Methodist Church.
