AIKEN, S.C. - John M. Reynolds II, 58, of Aiken, South Carolina, died Wednesday, December 23, 2009. The son of the late Julian Phlegar Reynolds and Pearl Bess Reynolds, John was born July 27, 1951, in Norfolk, Virginia, and grew up in Virginia Beach. He was the grandson of John Madison and Alma Fischer Reynolds, of Reynolds Hardware, formerly in Norfolk. John was the devoted husband of Deb Reynolds and the loving father of John Madison (Megan) Reynolds III, James Frederic Reynolds, Nina Alexandra Reynolds and stepfather to Adam Allie. John also is survived by his brother, Julian 'Butch' (Penny) Reynolds, sister Erena Reynolds, and many nieces and nephews. He was a 1969 graduate of Cox High School and received a bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1973. John worked as a nuclear engineer for the Department of Defense (Naval Shipyard) in Charleston, South Carolina, for 20 years. Following retirement from the Department of Energy (Savannah River Site) in 2007, John worked as a project engineer at Parsons Corporation. John was a modest and loving father and husband who treasured spending time with his family. He had many passions and talents, including repairing and restoring automobiles, sailing, tennis, water skiing, snow skiing, and enjoyed being involved with IMPACT Aiken. A memorial service will be held at Millbrook Baptist Church Sunday, December 27, 2009 at 2 p.m. Friends may stop in at any time at the family's residence and also following the memorial service at the church.
